For years, I poured everything I had into taking care of everyone else. As a Registered Nurse for over 19 years, caring for people was my calling. But somewhere along the way — between work, marriage, motherhood, faith, the house, and the endless responsibilities of life — I lost myself.
I'm a wife and mom to two beautiful children. After turning 30, my weight climbed, my health declined, and I felt exhausted and emotionally drained. I spent years believing taking care of myself could wait,
so I kept smiling through the exhaustion while quietly falling apart inside.
Even with a beautiful family and a career I loved, I felt disconnected from myself and from the joy God intended for my life. Then something shifted after I turned 40. The only way I can explain it — it was a God thing.
I realized that neglecting myself wasn't serving my family, my faith, or my purpose — it was hurting all of them. So I started small. A few healthier choices. A short walk each day. A few minutes of movement when I could fit it in. Nothing extreme. Nothing unrealistic. Just simple, sustainable changes that worked with my real life.
Little by little, everything started changing. I began losing weight. My energy returned. My confidence slowly came back. I got stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually. My cholesterol improved. I was no longer pre-diabetic. Most importantly, I grew closer to God and learned that honoring Him also meant caring for the body He gave me.
